Cripple creek, Colorado turquoise - we had friends who lived there in summer that we visited many times; her hus-band was engineer on the train. After a rain, we would see everyone in the streets picking up pieces of turquoise that were left after the rain. The streets were paved with the tailings from a turquoise mine close by - not as big or smooth as those shown, but some were nice enough to make some ear-rings.
